Nicole Musgrave is an independent folklorist based in Whitesburg, Kentucky. She is the Lead Editor for Inside Appalachia’s Folkways Project, where she produces radio stories about Appalachia’s traditional cultures. She has conducted folklife fieldwork and oral history interviews for organizations such as the American Folklife Center, South Arts, the Kentucky Folklife Program, and the Mississippi Arts Commission. Musgrave also works as a teaching artist, leading free and low-cost art classes in schools and community centers. She holds her MA in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University.
