Kristen Brandt | Managing Editor

Kristen Brandt is a Mississippi native and the managing editor of Mississippi Folklife. She holds a master’s degree in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Mississippi College. At the Mississippi Arts Commission, she oversees programs and initiatives that support writers, folk artists, and organizations dedicated to traditional arts and culture. Kristen has also managed statewide efforts such as the Mississippi Writers Trail and the Building Fund for the Arts, strengthening the infrastructure and visibility of Mississippi’s artistic communities.

Emily Buhrow Rogers

Emily Buhrow Rogers earned her PhD in sociocultural anthropology at Indiana University. Her dissertation explores the traditional arts of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Her research focuses on traditional arts meaning and production, particularly along the lines of material gathering, knowledge transmission, and individual artists’ creativity and innovation in the works of artists in the MS Band of Choctaw Indians community. She also has a master’s degree in folklore from Indiana University. While at Indiana University, she served as the editorial assistant for the online, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal, Museum Anthropology Review.

Amanda Malloy

Amanda Malloy ​lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, working in sales and marketing at Peters Projects and the Gerald Peters Gallery. She graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Mississippi. She also received her M.A. from the University of Mississippi in Southern Studies, focusing on southern photography. She has presented at various conferences and institutions, including the Southern Studies Conference at Auburn at Montgomery as well as the Center for the Study of Southern Culture. She has also received the Special Achievement Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters for her collaboration and performance in The Passions of Walter Anderson: A Dramatic Celebration of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Artist.
