Dominique Lewis, a native of Carthage, Mississippi, is a writer of poetry, fiction, and feature stories. She currently works as a full-time publications editor. She previously served as social media editor for Mississippi Folklife and digital media contractor for the Mississippi Arts Commission. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the Mississippi University for Women. Her work challenges societal expectations placed on Black people, specifically women in the church, in their family, and at work. She explores themes of belonging, grief, love, and identity in the rural South through nostalgia, culture, food, music, nature, and humor. She currently lives in Starkville with her two sons.
